Job Description
READ Ottawa seeks an excellent communicator and relationship builder to serve as its next Executive Director. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have a passion for literacy, and have experience with both community engagement and grant-writing. A bilingual candidate is strongly preferred, but not required. This is a part-time remote position, with frequent travel within Ottawa County. The Executive Director supervises 4 part-time employees.
READ Ottawa transforms the lives of Ottawa County, Michigan adults by removing barriers to improving literacy skills by providing free 1-on-1 tutoring from thoroughly trained tutors using research-based curriculum. Learners obtain reading and speaking fluency, which allows them to better pursue their dreams including career goals, community engagement, and gaining citizenship. READ Ottawa is entirely funded through grants, individual donations, and fundraising events. In 2024, READ Ottawa had an annual budget of $85,000 and 110 learner-tutor pairs spread across the county.
This position is salaried and starts at $45,000, with an anticipated time commitment of 25-29 hours per week. There is potential for this position to become full-time if additional sustainable funding can be procured. Position open until filled.
